Messrs. Foronha and Company and they have kindly assented to it, but they desire to ask Your Excellency's special consideration in regard to the price of the work to be done by them on the ground that they have incurred a considerable expenditure on account of the undertaking, I may explain that I told them, when the question of the new edition was first brought up, that I could not recommend that they should have the printing of it unless they would procure new type for the purpose. I enclose a memorandum of their expenditure, and shall be glad if Your Excellency will comply with their request, which seems to me to be reasonable under the circumstances.
7.
If Your Excellency approves of this suggested arrangement I shall be much obliged if the necessary authority can be sent to the Secretary of State by the next mail, in order that I may commence work immediately on my arrival in England.
